Woodinville Fence Contractor
Woodinville still has room. Beyond the wineries of the Hollywood District and the Sammamish River valley, the hills of Wellington, Leota and West Ridge hold larger lots, pastures and horse properties where a fence is measured in hundreds of feet rather than dozens. Closer to downtown, newer subdivisions and townhomes look more like the rest of the Eastside.
We build long boundary and pasture-edge fences, privacy fences, driveway gates for acreage, and chain link for dog runs and outbuildings across Woodinville, and repair and replace older fences.

Woodinville Land and Lots
Acreage and horse properties
Long lines where price per foot matters most, gates wide enough for trucks and trailers, and fences that keep animals in without hurting them.
Valley floor
Along the Sammamish River and Little Bear Creek, the ground stays soft and wet much of the year. Posts need wider footings and good drainage, and stream buffers limit where a fence can run.
Newer neighborhoods
Subdivisions and townhomes near downtown with standard 6-foot privacy fences, shared lines and association rules.

Woodinville Fence Rules in Brief
Setback areas: 6 feet
In residential zones, fences, rockeries and retaining walls within setback areas may not exceed 6 feet, and a fence and wall within 3 feet of each other are measured together. We found no separate, lower front-yard limit.
How it is measured
From the ground directly under the fence to the top, including posts; caps may add up to 6 inches. A berm counts toward the height.
Inside the property line
Fences must stand entirely within the property line unless both owners agree — so on a boundary fence, the survey comes first. See boundary fences in Washington.
Permits and wire
Fences up to 7 feet above finished grade are permit-exempt. Barbed wire is limited to the R-1 and industrial zones, and electric fences have extra requirements in denser residential zones. More in fence height rules by city.
Fences for Woodinville Properties
Pasture and boundary fences
Board or rail wood fences and wire mesh on wood posts for long lines, with a rail on top so horses can see the fence.
Wide driveway and field gates
Gates on steel posts for tractors, trailers and hay deliveries, set so they swing clear of a sloped drive.
Privacy near the house
A cedar privacy section around the patio or pool, with a lower open fence on the rest of the land.
Woodinville Work
Clearing old wire and posts
Old barbed and field wire and rotted posts removed and hauled away before a new line goes in. See fence removal.
Dog runs
Chain link runs beside barns and garages, with dig guards and self-closing gates. See dog fences.
Posts in wet ground
Leaning posts on the valley floor reset with gravel and wider concrete, or replaced with steel. See fence repair.
Woodinville Fence Questions
Do I need a permit for a fence in Woodinville?
Not for fences up to 7 feet above finished grade, measured to the highest point including caps. Fences in setback areas are still limited to 6 feet by the zoning code.
Can I put a fence on the property line?
Woodinville requires fences to be entirely inside the property line unless both owners agree.
Can I use barbed wire for livestock?
Only in the R-1 and industrial zones. For horses, smooth wire, mesh or board fencing is safer anyway.
How do you price a very long fence?
By the foot, like any other, but material choice matters more on long runs. Compare options in the cost calculator before the site visit.
