Our Warranty at a Glance

For life

For as long as you own the property we built the fence on.

At no charge

Defects in our installation are repaired free of charge.

In writing

The terms are part of your signed contract, not a verbal promise.

What the Warranty Covers

The warranty covers our workmanship: how the fence was set, built and hung. It does not cover the natural life of the materials. Wood weathers and ages, and every fence needs care and, one day, replacement; the warranty is our promise that the way it was built will not be the reason.

Posts

Posts that lean or move because of how they were set: depth, concrete, alignment.

Gates

Gates that sag, drag or stop latching because of how they were framed and hung.

Rails and fasteners

Rails that come loose and fasteners we installed that fail.

Covered or Not? A Few Examples

How the terms work out in everyday cases.

A gate starts to drag

Two years after we hung it, the gate scrapes the ground. Covered. We adjust or rehang it.

A post we set begins to lean

No storm, no impact, the post just moves. Covered. We reset it.

A section we rebuilt comes loose

The work from a repair fails. Covered for the same lifetime term, on the part we worked on.

A tree falls in a windstorm

Storm damage is not covered by our warranty; homeowner’s insurance may cover it. We can give you an estimate for the repair.

Boards turn gray and check

Natural weathering of wood is not covered. Cleaning and re-staining slow it down.

Someone else moved the fence

Changes or repairs made by others are not covered, and neither is the work affected by them.

04

Who and What It Applies To

The owner who hired us

The warranty belongs to the owner who hired us for the work. It does not transfer to a new owner if the property is sold.

Repairs

When we repair an existing fence, the same lifetime warranty covers the work we did: the posts we reset, the sections we rebuilt, the gate we rehung. It does not extend to the parts of the old fence we did not work on.

Manufacturer warranties

Vinyl, composite, aluminum and steel fence products often carry their own manufacturer warranty on the material and the finish. That warranty applies in addition to ours, and we install those products to the manufacturer’s specifications so it stays valid.

What Is Not Covered

  • The natural characteristics and aging of wood: color change, checking, knots, warping, shrinkage, weathering and decay over time.
  • Damage from storms, falling trees, vehicles, animals, flooding or ground movement.
  • Changes or repairs made by others.
  • Damage from sprinklers, from soil, mulch or plants kept against the fence, or from a lack of ordinary care.

Keep Your Fence in Good Shape

A few habits that keep a fence straight and sound for years.

Re-stain wood

When water stops beading and the color has faded: often every three to five years on a sunny run, longer in shade. See staining and sealing.

Keep water and soil off

Aim sprinklers away from the boards, and keep soil, mulch and plants from piling up against the fence.

Check gates once a year

Look at the hinges and the latch; a gate that has started to drop is easier to put right early.

Tell us early

If a post starts to move or a gate starts to drag, send us a photo. Small problems are quicker to fix.

Warranty Questions

Is the warranty really for life?

For as long as you, the owner who hired us, own the property the fence is on. It covers our workmanship for that whole time.

What happens if I sell my house?

The warranty does not transfer to the new owner. Manufacturer warranties on materials follow their own terms.

Does it cost anything to use?

No. Defects our warranty covers are repaired at no charge.

Does it cover rot or graying wood?

No. Weathering, checking and decay are the natural aging of wood, not a fault in how the fence was built. Regular staining slows them down.

What about storm or tree damage?

That is not covered by our warranty. Homeowner’s insurance may cover it, and we can give you an estimate for the repair.

Does a repair come with a warranty?

Yes. The work we do on a repair carries the same lifetime workmanship warranty; the rest of the old fence does not.

What about the warranty on vinyl, composite or aluminum?

The manufacturer’s warranty on the material and finish applies in addition to ours. We install to the manufacturer’s specifications so it stays valid.

What do I need to make a claim?

Your address, the date of the work and photos of the problem, sent through the contact page. Your contract helps if you have it to hand.
